IITA – the International Institute for Tourism and Aviation – is an aviation school, accredited by the Ministry of Education, that introduces another training option in vocational education (grades 10-12) linked to the world of aviation, in addition to courses geared towards that market.
Founded in 2012 in the United Kingdom and in 2022 in Portugal, IITA specializes in Ground Operations. Its focus is on attracting, training, and retaining the next generation of aviation professionals.
Any student after completing the 9th grade can choose between regular or vocational education. If they opt for vocational education, they were limited to courses in hospitality, IT, and communication. Now, IITA offers the possibility for the school to have another course, but linked to aviation, so that the student can begin to have contact with areas of aviation before directing them towards a career as a pilot, flight attendant, TMA (aircraft mechanic), or TTAE (rack officer).
The Ministry of Education approved this situation, and the student who enrolls in their school remains in the “traditional” school, with IITA going to the school to teach the technical subjects, while the traditional subjects (Portuguese, mathematics, and English) are taught by the “traditional” school.
IITA also offers other courses related to the world of aviation, such as cybersecurity and network management (airline network, route planning and optimization).
