There are two new vocational courses in aviation (and they’re free).

The Aviation Technical and Professional Institute (IITA) has added another vocational training program for grades 10 through 12, joining existing courses in hospitality, catering, tourism, mechatronics, and computer science, among others.

As part of compulsory education up to the 12th grade, these two vocational courses – Aircraft and Flight Equipment Mechanic and Ground Handling Traffic Technician – allow students to enter the job market directly or pursue an academic career in aviation at the university level. These courses are free of charge for students, provided that vocational schools throughout the country are partners of IITA. In this way, classes take place at the vocational school’s facilities, which provides one of the components, while the technical training is handled by IITA instructors who are active aviation professionals.

Both courses are approved by the Ministry of Education and are already being taught with excellent results in five schools on the mainland and islands. In a demanding sector with a high employability rate, IITA also offers internships in the most prestigious companies linked to aviation.

This way, students finish 12th grade with dual certification and are ready to enter the job market. Registration can be done  here .
