Vocational Education

A different route into aviation — designed to get you industry-ready faster, without closing a single door behind you.

Where the passion for aviation
is transformed into a career.
Onde a paixão pela aviação
é transformada numa carreira.
What is vocational aviation training?
Vocational education is a three-year upper-secondary school pathway designed and regulated by the National Agency for Vocational and Professional Qualifications.
Runs in parallel to the traditional academic covering Years 10 to 12, and ends with a dual qualification: full upper-secondary school equivalence and a recognised professional qualification at Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework — the equivalent of EQF Level 4.
Where the academic stream prepares students for university, the technical training is built to give the practical, regulatory, and operational competence to enter their chosen career immediately — and the option to continue into higher education on the same qualification.
In aviation, that translates into a programme deliberately structured around the operational realities of the sector — the equipment, the safety culture, the regulatory framework — rather than only around abstract theory delivered in isolation from the industry.
A Practical Path into Professional Aviation
IITA's vocational education programmes are built for people who want a real career in aviation — not just a qualification. Developed in close collaboration with industry partners and approved by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, our vocational courses provide the technical knowledge, regulatory grounding, and core skills that employers are actively looking for.
No prior aviation experience is required - just ambition, focus and passion. Our programmes are designed to take students from first principles to full operational competence — with work experience and industry internships that frequently lead directly to employment.
