Where can I work?
What does an Airport Ground Operations Technician do?
An Airport Ground Operations Technician is a trained professional responsible for the safe, efficient handling of every aircraft turnaround — from the moment an aircraft arrives on stand to the moment it leaves the gate.
The role combines passenger-facing service, cargo and baggage coordination, and direct work on the apron alongside aircraft and crew. The programme prepares you for the full operational scope of the role:
- Passenger handling: check-in, boarding, and arrival processing, ensuring passengers move through the airport smoothly and on schedule.
- Cargo and baggage coordination: making sure that everything loaded onto the aircraft is correct, secure, and accounted for before pushback.
- Ramp operations: working directly with aircraft and flight crew on the apron, including aircraft marshalling and ground support equipment operation.
- Special passenger assistance: supporting VIPs, unaccompanied minors, elderly passengers, and passengers with reduced mobility, with the care and discretion the role requires.
- Disruption management: handling delays, mishandled baggage, cancellations, and the operational rebooking and recovery work that keeps passengers and aircraft moving.
